volunteers working to put beds in place

One of Jacob’s Well’s new programs is expansion of an existing partnership with First Presbyterian Church. A 24-bed community garden has been built on ground owned by the Church and will be used by individuals within walking distance in the neighborhood. The extra food will help to extend budgets while being a great way for neighbors to interact as they tend their plot.

The garden was finished and on May 22,2012 and a ribbon cutting event to celebrate was held by Jacob’s Well, Community CROPS and First Presbyterian Church. The 24-beds are growing and the white picket fence looks amazing as a new focus is brought to the downtown neighborhood. Planting has begun and all of the plots are growing.

The Community CROPS newsletter had a section about the garden, and the Lincoln Journal Star’s Neighborhood Extra published a story about it and a feature piece: (click any of the images below to see the stories)
